Crunchy Homemade Chicken and Vegetable Dog Treats Recipe

Recipe #3.

Time for another homemade dog treat recipe in our ongoing series of recipes. Please see the original post for more valuable information and tips on how to make these cookies.

Original post with full instructions: Crunchy Homemade Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats Recipe

 Chicken and Vegetable Dog Treats

 Ingredients:

2 ½ cups oat flour

½ cup chicken broth, or stock, salt-free

2 eggs

½ cup carrot, approximately 1 carrot

½ cup celery, 1 stalk (stem and leaves)

2 Tbs. fresh parsley

 Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In mixing bowl, add water and egg, beat vigorously with a whisk until frothy. Add broth, or stock, and stir until smooth. Add flour and stir until well blended. Rest dough in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Remove dough from fridge and add 3 quick shots of hot water from faucet to help warm the dough. Stir (you may need to use your hands because the dough will be very stiff.) Add a little more flour if too soupy.

Chop carrot, celery and parsley with food processor, until very fine. Add to mixing bowl with dough. Stir.

Turn out on floured surface and knead dough until it becomes a well formed, non-sticky ball; add more flour as needed.

Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter.

Arrange onto cookie sheet without edges touching or overlapping.

Bake for 25 minutes, then turn the oven off.  Turn on the oven light and leave the treats in the warm oven overnight (at least 8 hours).

Store treats in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.

We hope your dogs enjoy these as much as we enjoyed creating them!
