ConairProPet Small Soft Slicker Brush Review

I just received my pet brush, and I am so impressed I just had to write a quick review.

Anyone with pets knows the struggle of finding the right brush for the right coat of your particular animal. We have 4 house pets, all with wildly differing coat lengths, thicknesses, and textures. Originally, I purchased the brush for our dog Sam who is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. His coat definitely leans to the Pomeranian side of his lineage, and therefore is quite a challenge to brush out. As soon as I ran the brush over his fur, I knew something was different, it cut right through his coat smoothly with no pulling or snagging and the brush was full of fur!  So, I continued to brush him and in no time I had him brushed out and quite the pile of fur too. Best of all, he did not pull away from me at all and really enjoyed the experience rather than just tolerating it like when I use a comb or the traditional slicker brush on him.

Next up was Max, who has very short hair with quite an impressive undercoat. Usually, the only way to get that undercoat out is with a shedder tool. Unfortunately, this new brush did not do anything for his coat, pulling very little loose fur or undercoat off of him. But he did enjoy the attention and the back scratching that he got from the brush so I will continue to do that for him.

The cat came wondering in about the time I finished Max up, so I thought I would try it on her. She has very slick, smooth fur and usually we use a Kong Zoom groom on her to get all the loose fur off. She thoroughly enjoyed the brushing but no fur to speak of was removed, so we will do with her the same as Max and just use it for the scratching pleasure.

The final test was our rabbit, Bugs, on whom we use the same tools as Sam in order to keep her mat-free as well as helping her blow her coat. She loves to be brushed so it is also a great way to bond with her. She settled right down and enjoyed every minute of the brush out. I did get a fair amount of loose fur off of her, but she is not currently shedding so I wouldn't expect much more anyway. I do believe this will be a valuable tool for when she blows her coat in spring and fall as well.

The brush itself is nice to hold with its squishy gel handle, as well as being nicely balanced in your hand. The brush head is the perfect size for small pets, and the bristles are really cool because they are not a hard plastic but more of a springy, flexible material instead. They might be plastic just not like any bristles I've seen before. The tops of the bristles have rounded little balls to further add to the comfort of the brush. These features are why this brush is great for bunnies because their skin is very sensitive, and you must be careful not to damage their skin.

I do hope this review was helpful for you and your precious pets! Happy Grooming!
