Cute crochet paw print pet toy basket pattern - free!

 These baskets are made by crocheting with 2 strands of yarn held together.  I use Red Heart Super Saver yarn because it is durable and it is washable. The paw print emblem is crocheted with just one strand of yarn. Basket measures approximately 10" in diameter x 5" high. 

Material: Red Heart Super Saver yarn: Cafe Latte (for the basket), Oatmeal (for the paw print)

Hooks: Size K (for the basket), Size F (for the paw print)

Begin basket with hook K and 2 strands of yarn held together. 

Make a Magic Ring. Work 6 Sc in magic ring. 

Round 1:  2 Sc in ea. Sc around (12 sts.) 

Round 2:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next st., repeat around (18 sts.) 

Round 3:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 2 sts., repeat around (24 sts.) 

Round 4:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 3 sts., repeat around (30 sts.) 

Round 5:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 4 sts., repeat around (36 sts.) 

Round 6:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 5 sts., repeat around (42 sts.) 

Round 7:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 6 sts., repeat around (48 sts.) 

Round 8:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 7 sts., repeat around (54 sts.) 

Round 9:  2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 8 sts., repeat around (60 sts.) 

Round 10: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 9 sts., repeat around (66 sts.) 

Round 11: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 10 sts., repeat around (72 sts.) 

Round 12: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 11 sts., repeat around (78 sts.) 

Round 13: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 12 sts., repeat around (84 sts.)

Round 14: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 13 sts., repeat around (90 sts.)

Round 15: 2 Sc in next st., Sc in next 14 sts., repeat around (96 sts.)

Round 16: Sc in back loops of each st. around. (96 sts.)

Round 17: Hdc in next 14 sts., Hdc2tog. next 2 sts., repeat around. 

Round 18: Sc in each stitch around. 

Round 19: Dc in each stitch around. 

Round 20: Sc in each stitch around. 

Round 21: Dc in each stitch around. 

Round 22: Sc in each stitch around. 

Round 23: Dc in each stitch around. 

Round 24: Sc in each stitch around. 

Round 25: Dc in each stitch around. 

Round 26: Sc in each stitch around. 

Round 27: Ch. 1, do not turn, now working from left to right, skip 1st stitch, Sc around for 1 row of reverse single crochet for basket edging. 

Slip stich to finish, but not to join. Use an embroidery needle to join instead. You will need to sew the 2 sides together to give it a more finished look. Do it loosely until you are happy with the results. 

Pad: Mc, 6 sc in circle, 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sts.), 1 sc in each st. around (12 sts.), 2 sc in next st., 1 sc in nxt st., repeat around (18 sts.). 

Prints: (make 4) Mc, 6 sc in circle, finish.

Assembly instructions: Sew paw print centered onto basket, arranging for best appearance. I start with the larger pad and locate the bottom on the top of the 1st row of Dc stitches from row 19, that leaves enough room on the top for the prints without getting too close to the top of the basket.
